چکیده

The increasing discoveries of new species the family Lucinidae in last two decades indicated a surprising diversity chemosynthetic lucinids deep sea, especially Indo-West Pacific. However, only few records have been reported from South China Sea. A lucinid Elliptiolucina subovalis sp. nov. is here deep-sea cold seep site distinct its congeners by possessing strong anterior lateral tooth on right valve and tapering, subrectangular-oval shells. Sequences three genes (18S rRNA, 28S CytB) were used to analyze relationships with other subfamily Myrteinae confirm taxonomic placement. result supports monophyly but also demonstrates polyphyly . has close relationship E. williamsae Rostrilucina garuda , not closely related congener ingens By comparing morphological characters, we suggest that should belong genus basal clades recognized may indicate origin this subfamily. Our results add known molecular information for poorly studied highlight necessity further investigation

A new genus and species of Thyasiridae (Mollusca, Bivalvia) from deep-water, Beaufort Sea, northern Alaska

Bivalve mollusk shells were collected in 2350 m depth in the Beaufort Sea, Arctic Ocean off northern Alaska. Initial identification suggested the specimens were a member of the bivalve family Thyasiridae, but no known eastern Pacific or Arctic living or fossil thyasirid resembled these deep-water specimens. Comparisons were made with the type of the genera Maorithyas Fleming, 1950, Spinaxinus O...

Primary structure of a dimeric haemoglobin from the deep-sea cold-seep clam Calyptogena soyoae.

The heterodont clam Calyptogena soyoae, living in the cold-seep area of the upper bathyal depth of Sagami Bay, Japan, has two homodimeric haemoglobins (Hb I and Hb II) in erythrocytes. The complete amino acid sequence of 136 residues of C. soyoae Hb II was determined. The sequence showed low homology with any other globins (at most 20% identity) and lacked the N-terminal extension of seven to n...

Galatheid and chirostylid crustaceans (Decapoda: Anomura) from a cold seep environment in the northeastern South China Sea.

Six species of squat lobsters from a cold seep field in the northeastern South China Sea are studied. Two new species, Uroptychus jiaolongae n. sp. and U. spinulosus n. sp., are described, and their distinctions from the related species are detailed. Two species, Munidopsis tuberosa Osawa, Lin & Chan, 2008 and M. verrilli Benedict, 1902, are herein reported for the first time from a cold seep/h...
